India Post and Shiprocket Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost E-commerce Exports

India Post and Shiprocket Forge Strategic Partnership

In a significant move to strengthen the e-commerce export ecosystem in India, the Department of Posts has joined forces with Bigfoot Retail Solution Pvt Ltd (Shiprocket), a leading e-commerce enablement platform. This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards enhancing e-commerce exports by capitalizing on India Post’s widespread presence and dependable shipping solutions.

A Milestone Agreement

The agreement was formally inked in New Delhi, attended by key dignitaries including Shri Alok Sharma, Director General Postal Services, Chief Postmaster General Delhi, Ms. Manju Kumar, and Shri Saahil Goel, CEO of Shiprocket. This partnership is poised to make a significant impact on India’s cross-border e-commerce landscape.

Empowering E-commerce Exports

Shri Alok Sharma, Director General Postal Services, emphasized India Post’s dedication to facilitating e-commerce exports. He highlighted a series of recent initiatives, including the expansion of Foreign Post Offices, the introduction of the Postal Bill of Export to enable commercial exports through post offices, the launch of a competitive International Tracked Packet Service, and the establishment of Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs) across the country.

“The online order processing, export documentation, compliances, and Customs clearance have been streamlined through the electronic Postal Bill of Export (PBE), which can be filed on the DNK portal. Integration of the DNK portal with different agencies and e-marketplaces will benefit artisans, craftsmen, and SME sellers from the remotest areas of the country. Currently, more than 600 DNKs are operational,” Shri Sharma explained.

Technical Integration for Seamless Operations

This partnership will pave the way for technical integration between Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra and Shiprocket. India-based sellers using Shiprocket will now have the capability to generate e-PBE and shipping labels directly from the Shiprocket platform. Exporters can avail packaging, label printing, pickup services, and send their shipments to the nearest DNK anywhere in the country.

A Powerful Driver of Economic Growth

Ms. Manju Kumar, CPMG Delhi, emphasized the role of e-commerce as a powerful driver of economic growth and innovation. She underlined that this collaboration aims to harness the extensive Post Office infrastructure, enabling more small businesses on the Shiprocket platform to participate and thrive.

A Vision for the Future

Shri Saahil Goel, CEO of Shiprocket, expressed excitement about extending their strategic partnership with India Post. Together, they aim to revolutionize the e-commerce and global trade landscape for MSMEs. The partnership will focus on providing faster, more secure, and more efficient global parcel services to over 200 destinations worldwide. Additionally, they aim to expand their reach and reduce first-mile costs and delivery times through Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs).

This partnership signifies a promising collaboration as India Post works alongside logistics aggregators and e-marketplace leaders to promote e-commerce exports in the digital age. It follows closely on the heels of the recent MoU signed between India Post and Amazon, underscoring India Post’s commitment to export-oriented initiatives.

This strategic alliance between India Post and Shiprocket holds the potential to reshape the e-commerce export landscape, making it more accessible and efficient for businesses of all sizes across the country.
