IAF’s Noble Endeavor: Supporting 765 TB Patients through NI-KSHAY MITRA Initiative
In a commendable demonstration of its commitment to nation-building and social welfare, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has pledged its active participation in the “Ni-kshay Mitra” scheme. This initiative is a vital component of the “Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA),” spearheaded by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
The PMTBMBA ambitiously aims to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) from India by 2025, setting the nation on a path to achieving this milestone five years ahead of the global goal set for 2030. Initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister in 2018, “Ni-kshay Mitra” represents a collaborative effort that extends additional diagnostic, nutritional, and vocational support to individuals undergoing TB treatment. This compassionate endeavor provides essential assistance on their journey towards a complete recovery.
IAF’s Generous Contribution
On August 23, 2023, a significant event unfolded at the Central TB Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, Delhi. The IAF, under the leadership of Air Marshal RK Anand VSM, Air Officer-in-charge Administration, demonstrated unwavering commitment by presenting a substantial contribution of Rs 46 lakhs. This generous sum, amassed through voluntary contributions, was officially handed over to Ms. L.S. Changsan, Additional Secretary & Mission Director, National Health Mission, MoHFW, Government of India. With this contribution, the IAF has made a dedicated commitment to support 765 patients undergoing TB treatment in the State of Delhi over a six-month duration. The support will manifest in the form of food baskets, strictly adhering to the prescribed norms established by the Government of India, and will be meticulously implemented in partnership with a government-approved Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
IAF’s Dedication to Community Initiatives
Air Marshal Rajesh Vaidya VSM, Director General of Medical Services (Air), eloquently articulated the IAF’s deeply ingrained commitment to community initiatives. He highlighted the ethos that propels the IAF to actively engage in supporting social causes, reinforcing its role as a responsible citizen and guardian of the nation. Furthermore, he acknowledged the remarkable contributions of the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP) in advancing the mission to eliminate TB from India by 2025.
The Indian Air Force, known for its valor in the skies, has once again shown its unwavering dedication to the well-being of the nation by actively participating in the “Ni-kshay Mitra” scheme. By providing crucial support to 765 TB patients, the IAF underscores its commitment to its social responsibilities. This noble endeavor not only strengthens the fight against Tuberculosis but also serves as an inspiring example of the IAF’s dedication to fostering a healthier and more prosperous India.
