Excerpts from Hon’ble Vice-President’s Address at the International Geeta Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, Haryana today

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu hails Bhagavad Gita as a guide for humanity at the International Geeta Mahotsav.  Kurukshetra: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday addressed the International Geeta Mahotsav, a festival celebrating the teachings and values of the Bhagavad Gita, at Kurukshetra, Haryana. He praised the ancient scripture as a universal guide for humanity, and urged the people to follow its message of harmony, peace and righteousness.

The Vice-President said that the Bhagavad Gita is not just a religious text, but a philosophical treatise that transcends the boundaries of time, space and culture. He said that the Gita offers practical solutions to the problems and challenges faced by the modern world, such as violence, terrorism, corruption, environmental degradation and social injustice. He said that the Gita teaches us to perform our duties with dedication, detachment and devotion, and to uphold the values of truth, justice and morality.

The Vice-President also lauded the efforts of the Haryana government and the Kurukshetra Development Board for organising the International Geeta Mahotsav, which showcases the cultural diversity and richness of India. He said that the festival is a unique opportunity to spread the message of the Gita to the global audience, and to promote the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. He also appreciated the participation of various dignitaries, scholars, artists and devotees from across the country and abroad in the festival.

The Vice-President also inaugurated a digital exhibition on the life and teachings of Lord Krishna, and released a commemorative postal stamp on the occasion. He also witnessed a cultural programme and a mass recitation of the Gita by thousands of students and citizens. He said that the Gita is a source of inspiration and enlightenment for all, and urged the people to read, understand and implement its teachings in their daily lives.
