PM inaugurates Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023
PM Modi inaugurates Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2.0, celebrates cultural ties between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu. Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the second edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, a month-long cultural festival that showcases the age-old links between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Education and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, aims to promote the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and foster mutual understanding and appreciation among the people of different regions and cultures.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at Namo Ghat, PM Modi said that Kashi and Tamil Nadu are timeless centres of India’s culture and civilisation, and have contributed immensely to the nation’s glory and heritage. He said that both Kashi and Tamil Nadu are immersed in Shiva, and have given birth to many great acharyas, poets, musicians and artists. He also highlighted the similarities between the Ganga and the Kaveri rivers, and the temples of Kashi and Rameshwaram.
PM Modi also released a book ‘Tirukkural’, along with its translation into 13 languages, and witnessed a cultural programme followed by aarti. He said that Tirukkural is a treasure of wisdom and ethics, and has inspired many leaders and thinkers across the world. He said that the Kashi Tamil Sangamam is a unique opportunity to learn from each other’s rich traditions and values, and to strengthen the unity and diversity of India.
More than 2500 delegates from Tamil Nadu, representing various fields and sectors, will be visiting Kashi during the festival. They will have an immersive experience of the life and culture of Kashi, and will also visit Prayagraj and Ayodhya. The festival will also feature various events and activities, such as seminars, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, performances and interactions, to showcase the best of Tamil and Kashi culture.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, the Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi, the Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal, and other dignitaries. This is the second edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, the first one being held in 2022.
