Bhupender Yadav Launches Chemotherapy Services in 30 ESIC Hospitals
New Delhi, August 31, 2023 – In a significant development towards enhancing healthcare services for insured workers and their dependents, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, inaugurated Chemotherapy Services in 30 ESIC Hospitals across the nation. This milestone was achieved during the 191st meeting of the ESI Corporation held at ESIC Headquarters in New Delhi.
Paving the Way for Comprehensive Healthcare
Shri Bhupender Yadav’s initiative aligns seamlessly with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of holistic welfare for India’s workforce during the “Amrit Kaal.” By introducing in-house Chemotherapy Services, this endeavor aims to provide accessible and superior cancer treatment to insured individuals and their families.
Empowering ESIC Hospitals with Advanced Resources
Alongside the launch of Chemotherapy Services, the Union Minister also inaugurated a state-of-the-art Control Room equipped with ESIC Dashboards. These dashboards will play a pivotal role in the efficient management of ESIC hospitals. They facilitate real-time monitoring of essential resources, bed availability, ongoing construction projects, and more, ensuring a seamless healthcare experience for all beneficiaries.
Strengthening Medical Education and Infrastructure
During the 191st meeting of the ESI Corporation, Shri Yadav emphasized the importance of skilled medical professionals within ESIC Hospitals. To address this need, ESIC has embarked on a journey to enhance medical education. The plan includes the establishment of new ESIC Medical Colleges and Hospitals after a thorough assessment of requirements.
To date, ESIC has successfully established 8 medical colleges, 2 dental colleges, 2 nursing colleges, and one para-medical college. These institutions play a crucial role in creating a pool of skilled healthcare professionals dedicated to serving insured workers and their families.
Advancements and Future Prospects
The meeting of the ESI Corporation also addressed various agenda items aimed at improving Medical Care Services, Administration, and Financial Matters. Additionally, a comprehensive review of ongoing construction projects was conducted.
Key decisions made during the meeting included:
- In-principle approval for setting up 15 new ESI Hospitals
- Expansion of bed strength at ESIC Hospital, Beltola, Assam
- Enhancements to ESIC Medical College & Hospital in K. K. Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
- Improvements to ESIC Medical College & Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana
Furthermore, Shri Bhupender Yadav released important documents during the program, including the Citizen Charter, Manual of Audit & Accounts of ESIC, Referral Policy, and Equipment Policy.
Recognizing Excellence in Learning
The Union Minister took a moment to honor the achievements of five outstanding learners from ESIC who excelled on the iGOT (Karmyogi Bharaat) learning platform. These learners, hailing from ESIC Offices in Rajasthan, Kerala, and Bengaluru, demonstrated exceptional dedication to capacity development within civil services.

The meeting witnessed the participation of distinguished individuals, including Ms. Dola Sen, Member of Parliament, Shri Ram Kirpal Yadav, Member of Parliament, Ms. Arti Ahuja, Secretary (L&E), Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Director General, and Principal Secretaries/Secretaries from state governments, along with representatives from employers, employees, and other ESI Corporation members.
